NeuroSwitcher for macOS · Beta
NeuroSwitcher on your Mac
The same layout switcher, voice input and AI assistant as on Windows — one Pro license covers both. The Mac beta is not notarized by Apple yet, so the very first launch takes one extra confirmation. Here is exactly what to click.
- Apple Silicon (M1 and newer)
- macOS 13 Ventura or newer
- One license for Mac and Windows
- Updates itself
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple Silicon — M1, M2, M3, M4 or newer (2020 and later).
- macOS 13 Ventura or newer.
- Intel Macs are not supported yet. An Intel build is planned; until then the installer will not open on an Intel Mac.
Not sure which chip you have? Apple menu → About This Mac: the "Chip" line says Apple M… on Apple Silicon and "Processor … Intel" on Intel.
Fastest: one command in Terminal
Open Terminal (Applications → Utilities) and paste:
curl -fsSL https://neuroswitcher.app/install-mac.sh | bash
It downloads the latest version from this site, checks its checksum and that it is signed by NeuroSwitcher, closes a running copy, puts the new one into Applications and starts it. There is no “Open Anyway” step: macOS does not quarantine files downloaded this way. The same command updates the app. The script is short and readable — install-mac.sh.
Prefer not to use Terminal? The disk image below works just as well.
Install
- Download
NeuroSwitcher-…-macOS.dmgwith the button above and open it. - Drag NeuroSwitcher into Applications.
- Eject the disk image.
First launch: one extra confirmation
NeuroSwitcher is signed, but not yet notarized by Apple (we are getting the Apple Developer ID now). Until then macOS cannot verify the developer and stops the first launch. This is expected and happens once.
- Open NeuroSwitcher from Applications. macOS says it cannot verify the developer — click Done.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
- Next to “NeuroSwitcher was blocked”, click Open Anyway, confirm with your password or Touch ID, then click Open.
On macOS 13 and 14 there is a shortcut: right-click the app → Open → Open. If you are comfortable with Terminal, this one command does the same:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/NeuroSwitcher.app
Permissions
On first launch the app explains what to enable in System Settings → Privacy & Security:
- Accessibility — required: the layout switcher cannot see keystrokes without it. Restart the app after turning it on.
- Microphone — only for voice input and meeting recording.
- System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS 13–14.1) — only for recording meetings.
Updates
The app checks for new versions and installs them itself, keeping your permissions. Updates are not quarantined, so the extra confirmation above is needed only for the first install. Installing a newer DMG by hand? Quit NeuroSwitcher first (menu bar icon → Quit), then drag the new one into Applications and choose Replace — or delete the old app first. Your settings, dictionary, license and recordings live in ~/Library/Application Support/NeuroSwitcher and are not touched.
Troubleshooting
- The switcher stopped reacting after an update. In Accessibility, remove NeuroSwitcher with the “−” button, add it again, and restart the app.
- No icon in the menu bar. Wait a few seconds after launch. If it still does not appear, send us
~/Library/Logs/NeuroSwitcher/ks-app.log. - “NeuroSwitcher can’t be opened” with no Open Anyway button. Check that your Mac has Apple Silicon — the beta does not run on Intel Macs.
